A photo from my graduation ceremony at Tokyo University of the Arts
Hello and welcome
I am Efrat, and I am an artist.
I grew up in Israel and studied in New York and Tokyo, where I completed my MFA in Fine Arts, and where I currently live and work.
My art explores the quiet beauty and warmth of everyday life. I draw inspiration from the different environments I have lived in. In my images, I create worlds where serenity can be found, where people feel protected and connected to nature, to each other, and to themselves. I weave together elements of my past and present surroundings, such as desert plants, mountain herbs, jizo, Shabbat candles, and birds, often linked by golden dots. I use mixed media, mainly water-based pigments, combining painting, printmaking, and collage techniques.
Nature, memory, and personal prayer guide my work. I weave these elements into dreamlike spaces that invite moments of joy and connection, speaking in a visual language shared by people everywhere.
I also teach art in international communities in Tokyo and feel fortunate to share my love for the creative path with others.
